On this day in 1988, thieves broke into a Fargo fur store and escaped with several furs in about two minutes, in what police called a well-oiled operation. Here is the complete story as it appeared in the paper that day: Well-oiled thieves hit Fargo fur store By Dave Olson STAFF WRITER Fargo police say several people are believed to have been involved in the theft early Thursday of several furs from Anderson s State Fur in the Market Square Mall at 1450 25th St. S. Fargo police described the theft as well oiled because the thieves apparently broke into the store, grabbed an undetermined number of items and made their getaway within about two minutes. A spokesperson for Anderson s would not comment on the theft or on how much was stolen, but the initial police report quoted a store official as saying a considerable amount of goods appeared to be missing.
